LITTLE RIVER – The Little River volleyball team dominated the competition on Tuesday as they played host to Elyria Christian and Goessel and defeated both teams in straight sets.

“It was an exciting night for our girls,” noted Lady Redskin head coach Kim Rolfs. “They played with a ton of energy and seemed to be in control of the game most of the time. A stat we like to keep is how many points we earn versus points off of other teams errors. Tonight ,we were at our highest number so far this season in earning our points, that’s a good sign we are playing extremely well.”

In the first match with Elyria Christian, the Lady Redskins dominated from the get go and won both sets 25-15, 25-14.

While the scoreboard may look as if Goessel gave them a fight in the first set, Little River dominated once again in scoring another straight set victory with wins of 25-20 and 25-11.

Among the top performers for the Lady Redskins on the night:

  • Lily Boughfman with 17 kills and 2 blocks.
  • Aubrey Olander with 10 kills and 6 blocks.
  • Alaina Eck with 8 kills and 1 block.
  • Ashley Stephenson with 5 kills and 2 blocks.
  • Elsie Boughfman with 3 blocks.
  • Kate Ellwood with 37 set assists.
  • Mea Debaere and Kami Grasser combined for 17/18 on serve/receive.

Coach Rolfs concluded her post-match reflections by saying, “Overall, in both matches the girls played great ball control and our hitters were connecting well with the set. When you combine playing in system and several defensive hustle plays, we will be hard to beat and that is exactly how we extend our leads.”

Next up for the Lady Redskin spikers will be next Tuesday, September 21, when they go on the road to Wakefield to battle Wakefield, Canton/Galva and Solomon.
