GOESSEL = A huge third quarter propelled the Little River football team to a commanding 66-20 road victory over Goessel on Friday to remain unbeaten on the season at 3-0.

The Redskins took a first quarter lead of 16-0 thanks to a pair of scoring runs by Braxton Lafferty of three and nine yards.

Goessel managed to connect on a 23-yard scoring pass play in the second quarter to pull within 10 at 16-6 before Lafferty caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Rylan Konen to put the Redskins back out in front by two scores at 24-6 going into the halftime break.

In a wild third quarter where Goessel managed to score twice, Little River put six touchdowns on the scoreboard themselves to get the final 66-20 victory. Among the scoring in the third stanza by the Redskins were two runs by Rylan Konen, runs by both Braden Young and Grant Stephens as well as a kickoff return for a score by Lafferty.

Lafferty and Konen split time at quarterback for Little River and combined to complete four-of-ten for just 44 yards while Lafferty led the team in rushing with 131 yards on 12 carries while both Konen and Young had eight totes for 88 and 76 yards respectively.

Overall, the Redskins recorded 363 yards in total offense on 43 offensive plays.

Defensively, Goessel managed to crack 200 yards in offense on 45 plays, including 129 yards running the ball. Lafferty and Ty Herzog each recorded seven tackles with both getting credit for a pair of tackles for loss of yardage while Lafferty also had a quarterback sack.

The Redskins will now prep for another road trip next Friday to Lincoln before returning to the home field on Friday, October 1 for a battle with rival Canton/Galva.
