ELYRIA – The Elyria Christian volleyball team split a pair of matches at home on Tuesday with Wichita Classical and Goessel.

In the first match the Lady Eagles defeated Wichita Classical in straight sets 25-11, 25-16 as Ryland Hawkinson led the team by recording 12 digs and 5 kills while Kylee Penner made 4 kills.

Things did not go as well in matchup number two with Goessel as the visitors beat Elyria Christian in straight sets, 16-25, 22-25. Against Goessel, Ryland Hawkinson scored 8 kills and made 15 digs while Julia Allen made 11 digs and Kortney Potter recorded 13 assists.

For the Lady Eagle junior varsity, they only played Goessel and lost in straight sets 9-25, 25-27. Leading the junior varsity was Addison Swenson with 4 digs and 4 kills, and Raegan Hawkinson who scored 8 digs.

Next up for the Elyria Christian Lady Eagle spikers will be on Thursday when they travel to Burrton to battle both Burrton and Canton/Galva.
