ANDOVER – It was not a very successful road trip on Tuesday for the McPherson Middle School girls tennis team as they went on the road to Andover and were throttled by Andover Middle School 17-4, suffering their first dual loss of the season.

“Andover came out and played some really great tennis today,” explained Junior Lady Pup head coach Paul Reichenberger. “They are the best team in our league and showed it. Some of the girls were able to win their matches, including Avery Unruh and Brodie Kuhn who was able to beat Andover’s top girl and stay undefeated in singles this year. We have one more chance to play Andover this season and I know the girls want a rematch to even out the score from today.”

Only three Junior Lady Pups won in the singles matches with Brodie Kuhn and Erin Olsen both winning 6-4 while Avery Unruh won 6-3, as Andover took 11 of the 14 matchups.

In the doubles competition, only the duo of Avery Eveland and Erin Olsen won a match for McPherson as Andover beat the Junior Lady Pups six out of seven matches.

The Junior Lady Pups will continue their extremely busy week on Thursday when they will play host to Derby.
