BURRTON – While the team is low on the number of players, the Canton/Galva volleyball team still has some fight in them and that showed on Thursday as they traveled to Burrton and split a pair of matches, getting their second victory of the season.
Facing host Burrton in the first match of the triangular, the Lady Eagles played hard and steady enough to earn that second win of the season in straight sets (25-21, 26-24).
“We have been busy this week,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Cloe Hedlund. “We had a solid night, our players played very well against Burrton where we started off with good serving and then we were able to get some good offense going.”
In the second match of the trip, Canton/Galva faced a solid Elyria Christian team that handed them a straight set loss (21-25, 14-25).
Coach Hedlund concluded her post-match reflections by saying, “Elyria Christian has some great hitters, so we had to do a lot of adjusting on defense which kept us behind most of that match. As their coaches, we are very proud of how hard they played and how well they played together tonight. It was great to see them have some fight while also coming out with a win in one of the matches.”
The Lady Eagles will be on the court for the third time this week when they travel to Herington on Saturday to compete in the Herington Tournament.
