ELYRIA – It has been a busy past seven days for the Elyria Christian Lady Eagle volleyball team as they played a total of nine matches, winning five and losing four, all coming on the road.
Last Thursday, the Lady Eagles went to Burrton and scored a pair of straight set victories over Canton/Galva and Burrton. The Junior Varsity split two sets with Burrton (25-23, 23-25).
Saturday, Elyria Christian headed to the Wakefield Tournament and came home with a fourth-place finish while going just 2-3 on the day which included losing three straight matches.
Back on the road again on Tuesday, this time to Goessel to battle Wakefield and Solomon where they earned a split of the two matches while the junior varsity split two sets with Wakefield.
The Lady Eagles now have a few days to rest and prep before heading back on the road Saturday to a tournament at Burrton.
Here is a summary of all the matches for the Lady Eagles:
THURSDAY – ELYRIA LADY EAGLES at Burrton =
Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Canton/Galva in straight sets (25-21, 25-14) with Ryland Hawkinson getting 12 kills and scoring 3 serve aces while Julia Allen recorded 8 digs.
Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Burrton in straight sets (25-15, 25-20) with Ryland Hawkinson getting 8 kills and recording 10 digs while Macy Reiff recorded 10 digs as well.
Lady Eagle Junior Varsity split two sets with Burrton (25-23, 23-25) with Jory Glendening recording 12 digs and Natalie Jader getting 9 assists.
SATURDAY – ELYRIA LADY EAGLES at Wakefield Tournament =
IN POOL PLAY =
Lady Eagles defeated Wakefield in straight sets (25-16, 25-21) with Kylee Penner getting 11 kills and recording 6 digs while Ryland Hawkinson made 8 kills and recorded 7 digs and Macy Reiff had 8 digs and 5 serve aces.
Lady Eagles defeated Blue Valley Randolph in straight sets (25-20, 25-21) with Kylee Penner getting 6 kills, 5 blocks and 3 serve aces and Ryland Hawkinson making 10 digs.
Lady Eagles lost in straight sets to Berean Academy (22-25, 14-25) with both Ryland Hawkinson and Kylee Penner recording 4 kills and making 6 digs while Macy Reiff had 6 digs as well.
IN BRACKET PLAY =
Lady Eagles lost in straight sets to Bennington (12-25, 22-25) with Ryland Hawkinson making 8 blocks and Alexus Swenson recording 7 digs.
3RD/4TH PLACE MATCH =
Lady Eagles lost to Clifton/Clyde in straight sets (18-25, 18-25) to finish fourth. Ryland Hawkinson led the team with 11 kills.
TUESDAY – ELYRIA LADY EAGLES at Goessel to play Wakefield and Solomon =
Lady Eagles lost to Wakefield in three sets (21=25, 25-14, 26-28). Leading the team were Macy Reiff and Julia Allen getting 26 and 22 digs respectively while Kylee Penner had 10 kills and 10 digs and both Alexus Swenson and Ryland Hawkinson each had 18 digs.
Lady Eagles defeated Solomon in straight sets (25-17, 25-14) with Ryland Hawkinson getting 6 kills and 11 digs while Kylee Penner had 6 kills, 8 digs and 3 serve aces and Macy Reiff had 9 digs.
