LARNED – The Smoky Valley volleyball team lived up to their high ranking in Class 3A on Tuesday as they traveled to Larned and took a pair of straight set victories over Larned and Haven.

With the two wins the Lady Vikings are now 21-3 on the season.

Against host Larned, Smoky Valley won the first set by 10, 25-15 before dominating the second set with a 25-3 win.

In the second match battle with Haven the Lady Vikings took command early and dominated by winning in straight sets 25-10, 25-8.

“All of our players were able to play significant minutes tonight at Larned which always helps contribute to a positive team culture,” pointed out Lady Viking head coach Sharlene Ramsey in her post-match reflections. “As a varsity team, we served 93% and our goal is always to serve at least 94% so we were very close as a squad. We were also able to run a few different plays that we’ve not run before so that’s always fun too.”

It was a clean sweep for the Lady Vikings as both the junior varsity #1 and #2 teams also swept both Larned and Haven.

Coach Ramsey concluded her reflections by saying, “These two wins were league wins and it brings our varsity record to 21-3. We return home on Monday to play Central Plains and Ellsworth before traveling to Southeast of Saline on Tuesday to play both Southeast of Saline and Halstead. Our junior varsity #1 team will play in a tournament on Saturday in Abilene, and we expect them to do very well there too.”
