PLAINVILLE – While they gave up their first points of the season, the Inman football team still went on the road and dominated Plainville Friday, winning 48-3.

With the victory, the Teutons remain unbeaten on the season at 5-0 and while they gave up a single field goal in the second quarter, for the season Inman has now outscored opponents 284-3.

Harrison Brunk put the first score on the board for the Teutons in the first quarter after catching a short, four-yard pass from Jace Doerksen before getting the second score of the game in the second quarter on another pass from Doerksen, this time covering 16 yards.

At that point, the second stanza became the Kendyn Blank show as he rambled in twice for touchdowns from 55 and seven yards while Plainville squeezed their lone field goal in between the two. This gave Inman a commanding 24-3 lead at the halftime break.

Kyler Konrade broke loose for an 80-yard scoring run in the third quarter to give Inman a 32-3 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of play.

All the Teutons did in the final quarter was hand the ball off to Tanner Heckel and all he did was rumble in for touchdowns from 14 and 70 yards out giving Inman the final 48-3 margin of victory.

Jace Doerksen had a solid game at quarterback for the Teutons, completing 12-of-18 passes for 217 yards and the two scores while spreading the receptions around to Harrison Brunk who caught five for 62 yards, Kendyn Blank with three catches for 70 yards and Tanner Heckel who took two receptions for 57 yards.

As far as running the ball, the Teutons rambled for 316 yards total with Heckel going over a 100 with 124 yards on just six carries. Blank toted the ball 10 times for 97 yards and Kyler Konrade covered 92 yards with three carries, including his 80-yard scoring run.

Where the Teutons shined was on defense as they gave up just 172 yards on 70 offensive plays by Plainville, with 176 of those on the ground as the only completed pass went for a minus-four yards.

Leading the Inman defense was Konrade who recorded 11.5 tackles while Dawson Mannebach was in on 9.5 stops, Grant Thimmesch had 7.5 tackles, Doerksen made seven and Samuel Shober had 6.5. The team totaled 6.5 tackles that went for a loss of yardage while forcing Plainville into two lost fumbles. Fourteen different Teutons put a defensive stat in the books.

Teuton head coach Lance Sawyer reflected on the win by saying, “I thought our guys played extremely physical. Plainville was a good football team, and we were able to set the tone early on. Kyler (Konrade) had a tremendous game while having Harrison (Brunk) back full time really helped our offense be more balanced. We had a lot of guys step on both sides of the ball.”

Next up for the Teutons will be hosting Ell-Saline next Friday. Ell-Saline will come into the game with a 2-3 record after losing 55-12 to unbeaten Sedgwick on Friday.
