MOUNDRIDGE – While the Moundridge football team averaged 5.5 yards every time they snapped the ball, visiting Goessel did better, getting 8.1 yards when they made an offensive play resulting in the Wildcats losing 42-22 at home on Friday.

Goessel put the first points on the board in the first quarter on a 15-yard pass play before getting a 15-yard scoring pass play in the second quarter to take a quick 14-0 lead before the Wildcats managed to score when quarterback Henry Hecox broke lose for a 49 yard to the end zone, pulling Moundridge back to within six at 14-8.

The rest of the second quarter was all long scoring runs as Goessel scored twice on runs of 61 and 43 yards with Moundridge getting a 47-yard scoring run from Kase Ptacek in between those two, giving the visitors a 28-14 halftime advantage.

While the Wildcats scored on an 8-yard run from Joaquin Huff in the third quarter, Goessel added another pair of long scoring plays, when they found the end zone on a 31-yard pass play and again on a 41-yard run to close out the scoring in the game.
