BENNINGTON – The top-ranked Little River football team continued to roll as they made quick work of dismantling Bennington on the road Friday, scoring a 50-0 shutout victory.

Putting up five touchdowns in the first quarter helped get the game started as the Redskins scored early on a 50-yard scoring run by Grant Stephens. Braxton Lafferty then punched it into the end zone twice on runs of 10 and 17 yards before Rylan Konen completed one of only two passes in the game, this time a 35-yard scoring toss to Grant Stephens. Konen then finished out the first quarter scoring on a 35-yard ramble into the end zone to give Little River a commanding 32-0 advantage at the end of the first 12 minutes of play.

Konen added a 56-yard scoring run in the second quarter while Lafferty got his third scoring run of the game on a short 3-yard plunge across the goal line. Ty Herzog closed out the Redskins scoring by tackling a Bennington player in the end zone for a safety. With Lafferty’s three 2-point conversion runs, the Redskins ended the game at halftime due to the point-rule, 50-0.

Little River’s defense was like a brick wall, giving up just 50 yards on 28 offensive plays by Bennington, including just 15 yards on 14 attempts to run the ball. Three Redskins managed to pick off a pass, including Braxton Lafferty, Andrew Smith and Braden Young, it was Young’s third pick of the season. Laffety led the Redskin defense with six tackles.

On offense, Konen only threw the ball three times, completing two for 50 yards and the one score while leading the Redskins in rushing with 92 yards on just three carries. Grant Stephens took the ball twice and rambled for 65 yards with Lafferty running seven times for 55.

Still ranked number 1 in 8-Man Division I, the Redskins are now 6-0 for the season and are scheduled to take to the road next Friday to play Herington who has won just one game in 2021 and needed to cancel their game Friday evening with Canton/Galva due to health concerns.
