MCPHERSON – After a few weeks of staying below 90 in the number of new Covid-19/Coronavirus cases, McPherson County Health Department reported on Tuesday, October 12 that the county has had 94 new cases since the report we covered on Wednesday, October 6.

This gives the county a total of 4,351 cases overall with 4,161 considered recovered while 99 are still listed as active cases.

While the total number of individuals who have been hospitalized from Covid-19/Coronavirus has jumped by 12 to 189, there are currently just five (5) that are currently hospitalized.

The report did show one new death caused from complications by Covid-19/Coronavirus with that death being from an individual in the 60-69 year old age group.

When looking at the age group with the largest number of positive tests in the past week, it hit both ends of the spectrum as 26 new cases came from individuals over the age of 60 while 22 came from those youngsters ages 0-17.

When it came to vaccination rates, McPherson County rate did show another slight increase for the number fully vaccinated as it rose from 46.6% to 47.3%. Those 65 and older showed a vaccination rate of 83.7% while those 12-65 rose to a 55.3% vaccinated.

There now has been 172 cases considered breakthrough cases with seven of those being hospitalized.

The State of Kansas has now had 3,002,887 individuals fully vaccinated while 3,932,376 have been tested for the Covid-19/Coronavirus. Kansas has reported 419,341 total cases of the illness with 14,238 requiring hospitalization and 6,142 having died.
