HERINGTON – The top ranked Little River football team remained unbeaten on Friday as they went on the road and hammered Herington 54-6.

Grant Stephens scored twice in the first quarter on short runs of two and one yard each while Braxton Lafferty took a pass from Rylan Konen and rambled into the end zone from 24 yards out. Konen added a 13-yard scamper for a score, plus the Redskins converted three of four two-point conversions to take a commanding 30-0 lead into the second quarter.

After the Redskins allowed Herington to get on the board early in the second quarter, Lafferty ran wild, scoring twice for the Redskins from 40 and 21 yards while Stephens added another one-yard plunge into the end zone to give Little River the final 54-6 advantage and ability to point-rule Herington at halftime.

The Redskin defense was super stingy as Herington was unable to complete a single pass in the game while Lafferty picked one off. When the home team tried to run the ball, Little River held them to just 47 yards on 21 carries. The Redskin defense was led by Grant Stephens, Braxton Lafferty, and Braeden Grasser.

On offense, Rylan Konen only completed two of four passes, but they were good for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Braxton Lafferty went over the 100-yard mark with 116 yards on just six carries. Konen ran for 65 on five carries while Grant Stephens rambled for 47 yards on eight carries while finding the end zone three times.

Now 7-0 on the season, the Redskins will close out the regular season schedule next Friday when they play host to Solomon. The Gorillas will come into the game 5-2 for the year after plowing down Wakefield 62-16 on Friday.
