REMINGTON – The Inman football team remained unbeaten on Friday as they traveled to Remington and scored another shutout victory, this time to the tune of 60-0.

This means through seven games, the Teutons have yet to give up a touchdown and have outscored their opponents now 414-3.

The Teutons scored twice in both the first and second quarters with Harrison Brunk taking a pass from Jace Doerksen 56 yards in the first quarter before Kendyn Blank returned a punt 75 yards for the second first quarter score.

In the second quarter, Blank put Inman on the board twice, once on a 29-yard pass play from Jace Doerksen and the other on an 11-yard run, giving the Teutons a solid 28-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Three times the Teutons found the end zone in the third quarter, including a 22-yard run after a fumble recovery by Grant Thimmesch. The other two third stanza scores came on 48-yard run by Kyler Konrade and a seven-yard scamper by Blank. Tanner Heckel put points on the board in the final quarter on an 18-yard run, giving Inman the final 60-0 victory.

“I was impressed with how Remington came out and ran the ball,” noted Teuton head coach Lance Sawyer. “I thought we were flat to start the game, but they came out with a lot of energy and had quite the first possession. They took over nine minutes off the clock with their first drive which ended with a turnover on downs after a pass was knocked away by Josiah Buller.”

Defensively, the Teutons gave up 154 yards on 52 offensive plays by Remington. Their offense finished the game evenly divided as they gained 77 yards through the air and 77 yards on the ground. Dawson Mannebach led the Teuton defense with 9.5 tackles which included a quarterback sack and a loss of yardage. Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen recorded 6.5 tackles while Kyler Konrade had six and Eli Brunk and 5.5.

Coach Sawyer commented on the defensive effort in his post-game reflections, saying, “After the first drive our defense got together and played some really good ball. They got back to normal playing fast and aggressive. I thought Dawson Mannebach and Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen both had really solid games up front.”

On offense, the Teutons were led by quarterback Jace Doerksen who complete six-of-ten passes for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns with 56 yards of those going to Harrison Brunk and another 52 to Kendyn Blank.

Thanks to a long scoring run, Tanner Heckel led the team in rushing with 60 yards on just four carries while Kyler Konrade ran for 60 yards as well on just two totes. Inman averaged over 16 yards every time they ran the ball for the night.

The big stat of the game went to Kendyn Blank who ran for 30 yards and caught those three passes for 52 yards, scoring three times on offense plus adding another score on a lengthy punt return. The four touchdowns in the game gave Blank 20 scores on the season which breaks the school record of 17.

Concluding his post-game reflections, Coach Sawyer talked about the offense, adding, “Our offensive line was tremendous. They were able to own the line of scrimmage the entire game. Jace (Doerksen) threw some nice passes, and our receivers were able to capitalize. All of his passes came in the first half.”

Now holding a 7-0 mark on the season and ranked number two in Class 1A, the Teutons will close out the regular season schedule next Friday on the road at Smith Center. Smith Center will be a true test for the Teutons as they are also 7-0 and ranked number three in Class 1A, plus they are coming off a 46-0 win over Ell-Saline on Friday, a team which Inman beat 60-0 recently.
