HOPE – The Canton/Galva volleyball team went to Hope, Kansas on Saturday for the Wheat State League Volleyball tournament and came home with three losses.
While the Lady Eagles were already short on numbers this season, they entered the tournament short two more girls who were injured during the week.
Getting off to a strong start, the Lady Eagles won their first set of the day against Solomon 25-18 before losing the second and third sets (14-25, 14-25).
They then lost in straight sets to Peabody/Burns (23-25, 14-25) before closing out the day with another straight set loss, this time to tournament host Rural Vista (21-25, 18-25).
Lady Eagle head coach Cloe Hedlund reflected on the day by saying, “We lost two girls to injuries these past couple of weeks, so everyone has been playing in a different lineup. The girls have adjusted well, and we just couldn’t pull it together today.”
The Lady Eagles close out the regular season for 2021 with a record of 5-21
Next up for the Canton/Galva spikers will be to play host to State Regionals on Saturday, October 23. Team participating in the Lady Eagles regional will be Burrton, Goessel, Langdon/Fairfield, Little River, and St. John/Hudson.
