LITTLE RIVER – The top ranked team in 8-Man Division 1, Little River continued to roll toward the opportunity to defend their state championship status by shutting out Solomon 48-0 at home on Friday evening.

Putting four scores in the books in the first twelve minutes of play, the Redskins scored on a 29-yard run by Grant Stephens, a 57-yard run by Rylan Konen, a 45-yard punt return by Braden Young, and a 37-yard scoring pass play from Konen to Stephens. Little River converted all four of their two-point conversion attempts to roll up a 32-0 lead by the end of the quarter.

Little River added two more scored in the second quarter on a short two-yard plunge into the end zone from Konen and an eight-yard jaunt from Braxton Lafferty, giving them the final 48-0 victory.

The Redskin defense was spectacular as they held Solomon to just sixty-six yards on thirty-five offensive plays, including just forty-eight yards rushing on twenty-eight carries. Braden Young was a ball hawk in the defensive backfield as he recorded three pass interceptions with the team holding the visitors to just eighteen yards passing and only one completion in six attempts.

On offense, Little River was led by Rylan Konen who completed 3-of-6 passes for sixty yards and one score while rambling for another 106 yards on the ground with just five carries.

Now 8-0 on the season, Little River will be playing their first round of post-season games next Thursday at home against Valley Falls. Should they win, they would then continue defense of their state title by playing either Burlingame or Bennington the following week.
