MOUNDRIDGE – For the second week in a row, the Moundridge football team scored a victory, this time at home on Friday with a 52-6 pounding of visiting Pretty Prairie.

After Kase Ptacek rambled in from four yards out in the first quarter to give the Wildcats an early 6-0 advantage, they erupted for forty points in the second quarter.

Ptacek scored again, this time from one yard out before Brayden Conquest recorded a tackle in the end zone resulting in a safety to increase the Moundridge lead to 16-0.

After Anthony Everhart found the end zone from two yards out and Henry Hecox connected with Logan Churchill for a twenty-five-yard scoring pass, Pretty Prairie finally put a score on the board to make it 30-6 at that point in the second stanza. Hecox connected with Ethan Brandeweide for an eighteen-yard score and Ptacek found the end zone for the third time in the game, this time from fifteen yards out to give the Wildcats and commanding 46-6 lead going into the halftime break.

Moundridge added another scoring run by Ptacek in the third quarter to push the score out to 52-6, ending the game on the point rule.

The Wildcat defense was like a brick wall for most of the game as they held Pretty Prairie to just sixty yards in total offense on twenty-five plays with sixty-two of those yards coming through the air as Moundridge held the visitors to a minus-two yards rushing on fifteen carries in the game.

Conquest not only got the safety early in the game, but he also led the Wildcat defense with five tackles including one quarterback sack and a tackle for loss of yardage.

Offensively, the Wildcats had the ball for eleven minutes longer than Pretty Prairie and rolled up 262 yards on thirty-two snaps.

Henry Hecox completed five-of-eight passing which was good for eighty-five yards and the two scores while Ptacek took the ball fifteen times and covered 149 yards running the ball.

Now 3-5 for the season, Moundridge will now travel to LaCrosse on Thursday for the first round of the 8-Man Division 1 playoffs.
