INMAN – The Inman Teutons continue their drive toward a possible Class 1A state championship with a 54-16 home field victory Friday evening over Oakley.

With the win, the Teutons remain unbeaten at 10-0 as they claimed a regional championship trophy. Next up for Inman will be their sectional final eight game against Conway Springs who will come to Inman sporting an 8-2 mark after beating Plainville 27-14 on Friday.

Against Oakley, Inman put a score on the board in the first quarter on a two-yard pass from Jace Doerksen to Kendyn blank before adding two more scores in the second quarter on nine and one yard runs by Tanner Heckel and Doerksen to give the Teutons a 24-0 advantage going into the halftime break.

Heckel and Eli Brunk took 26- and 16-yard passes from Doerksen to the end zone in the third quarter giving Inman a commanding 38-0 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of the game.

Oakley’s offense final woke up a bit in the fourth and they alternated scores with Inman in the final quarter scoring twice in and around a 55-yard touchdown run by Heckel and a 40-yard run for a score by Doerksen as the Teutons finalized their 54-16 victory.

While Oakley ran sixty-two offensive plays to just forty-eight for the Teutons, the visitors only picked up 232 yards while Inman rolled for 302. The Teuton defense held Oakley to just thirty yards in passing while getting an interception from Kendyn Blank. Doerksen and Dawson Mannebach led the Teutons defense with 9.5 and eight tackles while both Samuel Shober and Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen each had 6.5 stops.

On offense for Inman, Doerksen completed just nine-of-twenty-one passes but they were good for 127 yards and three scores while he, plus Tanner Heckel and Kyler Konrade completed six passes for two-point conversions after Teuton scores. The Brunk brothers, Eli and Harrison each caught a pair of Doerksen passes good for thirty-eight yards.

Heckel ran for sixty-one yards on five carries while Doerksen had fifty-three on four totes and Kendyn Blank covered forty-two yards on eight to top the leader board for Inman rushers.
