MCPHERSON – Much like their seventh-grade counterparts, the McPherson Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball teams got off to a strong start to their 2021-22 season as the ‘A’ team dominated in a pair of wins while the ‘B’ team overwhelmed opponent number one before dropping a one-point overtime game on Thursday.

Monday, both the eighth-grade Junior Lady Pups dominated games at Salina Lakewood with the ‘A’ team scoring a 40-19 victory as Salina Lakewood could not find a stop to Ava Romero as she busted out for 26 points. In the ‘B’ game, the Junior Lady Pups gained a 34-point, 49-15 win as Kamri Shipman dropped in 18 points.

On Thursday at Derby, the eighth-grade ‘A’ Junior Lady Pups rolled to a 32-point, 40-8 dominating win as Brooke Doile played like King Kong in the paint with a double-double as she dropped in 16 points to go along with a whopping 15 rebounds.
