NEWTON – Down 21-6 in the third quarter, Inman rallied back and scored the final twenty points of the game on Friday to defeat Sedgwick 26-21 and earn themselves a spot in the Class 1A State Championship game in Hays on Saturday, November 27.

Remaining unbeaten at 12-0, the Teutons will now battle with Olpe for the state title. Olpe is also 12-0 for the season after beating Centralia 28-6 on Friday in their state semifinal game.

Inman put the first points on the board in the first quarter when Kendyn Blank rambled in from thirteen yards out. After missing the two-point conversion, the Teutons held a slim 6-0 advantage after the first 12 minutes of play.

Sedgwick scored twice in the second quarter on 38- and 37-yard pass plays and took a 14-6 lead into the halftime break.

After the Cardinals increased their lead to fifteen at 21-6 with a short scoring run, the Teutons Jace Doerksen connected with Eli Brunk for a 15-yard touchdown to pull Inman back to within nine points heading into the final 12 minutes of play.

It was all Teutons in the final quarter as Doerksen dived in from one yard out before Eli Brunk took a pass from Doerksen and managed to tip toe the sidelines for a 64-yard scoring pass play to give Inman the final 26-21 victory.

Sedgwick gave the stout Inman defense all they could handle as they racked up 425 yards in total offense on eighty offensive snaps, 386 of which came from Lance Hoffsommer who ran for fifty-three yards while throwing for 333.
