LITTLE RIVER – Unlike the Redskin boys team, the Little River girls do not lose anybody from the team of 2020-21 that finished 20-4 on the season before losing in the first round of the state tournament.

Lady Redskin Head Coach Brent Clark returns for his second season at the helm and notes they will return all five starters as well as several talented letter winners.

The outlook for the Lady Redskins is so solid that they were picked on top of the Class 1A Division 1 girls poll by the Hays Daily News.

Leading the way for the Lady Redskins will be one of the top front-line players in the state, Lily Boughfman. All Boughfman did last season was score 13.6 points, grab 7.5 rebounds, block 3.8 shots and dish out 2.7 assists per game.

Surrounding Boughfman once again will be seniors Mekenzie Renken and Amaya Sneath along with super sophomores Alaina Eck and Aubrey Olander. Those other four starters complemented Boughfman at a rate of 27.4 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game.

Coach Clark feels like the Lady Redskins of 2021-22 have the players, workers, and power to make a legitimate run for the state title in March.

The riches of the starting lineup is just part of the puzzle though as the Little River also returns to the hardwood four key reserves in juniors Courtney Stansbury and Victoria Norez as well as Ashley Stephenson and Kate Ellwood who both provided huge contributions off the bench as freshman.

During his preseason reflections, Coach Clark also pointed out that he was looking forward to working with a pair of exceptionally talented freshman joining the team in Chenzie DeBaere and Elsie Boughfman.
