MOUNDRIDGE – It did not go as hoped for the Inman girls basketball team on Tuesday as they opened their first-round game in the Moundridge Preseason Tournament with a 22-point, 57-35, loss to Hillsboro.
Hillsboro doubled up the Lady Teutons 16-8 in the first quarter before pushing their lead out to 14 points at 33-19 when the two teams headed for the locker rooms for the halftime break.
Inman came out in the third quarte and knocked three points off the deficit before Hillsboro put another 16 points on the board in the final quarter while holding Inman to just five, gaining the Lady Trojans their final 22-point win.
“We lost,” noted Lady Teuton head coach Megan Heckel in her brief post-game reflections. “We have to get better at boxing out and making smart passes. Need to get better at playing hard the whole game and not just here and there.”
Juniors Maci Neufeld and Kadence Welch led the Lady Teutons with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Neufeld had two of the teams three three-pointers while sophomore Taylor Friesen had the other.
