MOUNDRIDGE – Still playing without a couple of key players, the Little River boys went up against a Moundridge team that was playing without their top scorer and still took a 10-point defeat on the road Tuesday.
Staying within three points, 13-10, at the end of the first quarter, Little River fell behind 30-21 by the halftime break. Both teams played even up in the second half, but the damage was already done and the Redskins lost by 10, 48-38.
Little River could not find a way to stop Logan Churchill who put up 25 points for the Wildcats as Moundridge shot 57% from the field to just 39% for the Redskins.
The Redskins also suffered in the paint as Moundridge had a 24-15 advantage in rebounds while the Redskins also got whistled for 16 fouls compared to just nine for the home team.
While nine Redskins put points in the scorebook, none reached double digits and the team leader was Gabe Walton with eight while Ryan Loder had six and both Dalton Mantz and Andrew Smith chipped in with five.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR “AREA TEAM”?
With the loss the Redskins drop to 2-3 for the season as they now have a week off before getting one more game before the holiday break when they host Herington on Tuesday, December 21.
