WAKEFIELD – After having to reschedule their Friday evening games with Solomon, the Canton/Galva still made the trip to Wakefield to close out their pre-holiday schedule and brought home a staggering win by the Eagle boys and another struggle and loss for the Lady Eagles.

The Eagle boys scored a 40-point, 71-31, win over Wakefield while the Lady Eagles stumbled to a 21-point, 52-31 loss.

With the Eagle boys heading into the holiday break at 4-2 on the season while the Lady Eagles are still looking for their first win at 0-6, will now have a couple of weeks off for the holidays before returning to the competitive hardwood on Friday, January 7 on the road at Centre.

Summary of the two games:

EAGLE BOYS BURY WAKEFIELD

The Canton/Galva boys ran out to a 15-point, 23-8 lead by the end of the first quarter before closing out the half and entering the break holding a 22-point, 39-17 advantage on the scoreboard.

While playing a ton of reserves the Eagles still outscored Wakefield 32-14 in the final two quarters to gain the final 40-point, 71-31 victory.

Eagle head coach Larry O’Connor gave one, brief reflection on the game when he stated, “We were able to play all 20 guys on our roster tonight and overall, they played a nice up-tempo and aggressive defensive game.”

Of those 20 players that got time on the hardwood during the game, 13 put at least a point by their name in the scorebook with the Eagles being led by Christian Darrah and TJ Koehn with 10 points each while Tyson Struber, Jaden Ediger, and Garrett Maltbie each pitched in with eight.

LADY EAGLES LOSE BY 21

Despite playing one of their better games of the season, the Lady Eagles could not keep up with Wakefield early and suffered their sixth loss on the season.

Wakefield doubled up Canton/Galva, 14-7, in the first quarter before pushing their lead out to 14 by the halftime break.

Mimi Craig scored more than half of the Lady Eagle points as she had a game high of 18 points thanks to nailing four three-pointers.
