LITTLE RIVER – The Little River girls closed out the pre-holiday part of their 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday with a dominating performance at home, beating Herington by 25 points, 49-24.

Jumping out to a seven point, 11-4 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Redskins dropped 19 points into the net in the next eight minutes to take a 17-point, 30-13 lead into the halftime break.

Little River kept their foot on the offensive pedal and put another 19 points on the board in the final two quarters while holding the visitors to just 11 to earn the final 25-point victory.

“We didn’t seem to have the energy we played with against Moundridge,” pointed out Lady Redskin head coach Brent Clark. “I though we had several girls play well and I thought our defense played well most of the time while committing just a few mental errors. I think the Christmas break will be good for us.”

While the team only shot 31% from the field, they did dominate inside the paint and pulled down 44 rebounds of which 18 were on the offensive end of the court, many that turned into second chance point opportunities.

Herington had no answers for Aubrey Olander and Lily Boughfman as the two combined for 31 points, 23 rebounds, five assists, and all four blocks.

Olander had the monster game with a double by scoring the game high 21 points to go with 13 rebounds while she also swiped a pair of steals on defense.

Boughfman also recorded a double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out three assists, making three steals and blocking four shots.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR the LADY REDSKINS?

With the victory, the Lady Redskins enter the holiday break with an overall record of 5-1 as they now have 17 days off before returning to the competitive court with a home game on Friday, January 7 when they host Wakefield.
