LITTLE RIVER – It was nearly a shutout on the basketball court on Tuesday in Little River as the Little River boys buried visiting Herington by 38 points in a 47-9 win that saw the visitors not score in two of the four quarters of play.
The Redskins shutout Herington in the first quarter as they ran out to a 15-0 lead before allowing five points in the second quarter while they added another 17 to the scorebook for a commanding 32-5 advantage going into the halftime break.
After shutting out the visitors again in the third quarter, Little River cruised on in for the final 38-point victory.
While full stats were unavailable for Herington, the Redskin stat sheet showed they made 21 steals on defense which set the tone for the game as seven different Redskins recorded at least two steals in the game.
Kyle Bruce led Little River in scoring with 14 points while Ryan Loder chipped in with 11 and Andrew Smith had eight. Smith and Logan Renken shared the team leadership in the paint with four rebounds each while Dalton Mantz directed the offense with eight assists.

The win gives the Redskin boys a .500 record at 3-3 going into the holiday break. They now have over two weeks to rest and prep before returning to play on Friday, January 7 when they host Wakefield.
