BURLINGTON – The McPherson wrestling team took on a 22-team field on Saturday at the Burlington Invitational and came home as the team champions while also gathering a pair of individual golds.
Scoring 206.5 team points, the Bullpups outdistanced second-place Mulvane by 40 points. Baldwin, Silver Lake, and Erie rounded out the top five for the team standings.
Individually, the Bullpups were led by Hayden Farley at 152 and Treyton Pelnar at 126 as they both went unbeaten on the day and brought home first-place gold medals.


Both Farley and Pelnar won three of their four matches by falls while Pelnar earned one on points and Farley had a first match bye.
The Bullpups also had a pair of second-place finishes as well with Gavin Richardson at 160 and Lorenzo Cruzen at 132 while Carter Spotted Elk continued his strong season with a third place finish at 195.
Next up for the Bullpup wrestlers will be a trip to El Dorado on Thursday.
