LOST SPRINGS – The Canton/Galva boys opened up their post-holiday break side of the 2021-22 schedule on the road Friday at Centre and scored a commanding 68-46 victory.
Taking a sizable 13-point, 23-10, first quarter lead was helpful for the Eagles as they added three more points to their advantage and held a 16-point, 40-24, lead going into the halftime break.
Putting another 22 points on the board in the third quarter put Canton/Galva ahead by a commanding 27 points heading into the final eight minutes of play where they cruised in for the final 22-point win.
“Our boys cam out very aggressive by scoring 23 points in the first quarter,” noted Eagle head coach Larry O’Connor. “Our press wore them down and I was able to use our bench to keep the pace of the game in our favor. A lot of players scored, and our bench did a great job tonight.”
Tyson Struber led the Eagles as he recorded a double double on the night with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Three teammates also scored double digits in the scorebook as Brayden Doughman, Lane McMannis and Jayden Ediger all chipped in with 10 points each.
Ediger and Cason Mastre both hit for a pair of three pointers while Mastre led the team on offense by dishing out six assists. Nine Eagles put points in the scorebook on the night.
