BURLINGTON – While the boys won the day, the McPherson girls wrestlers came close at the Burlington Invitational as they finished second to host Burlington, losing the team title by just six points.

Burlington won the 23-team event with 177 points while the Lady Bullpups came close with 171. Both teams finished way ahead of third place Baldwin and Fort Scott who each scored 109.

On the day individually, Erin Kutina took the lone gold medal for the Lady Bullpups as she went unbeated at 4-0 in the 191 division.

Cara Rawson at 235 and Hunter Wilson at 155 both brought home silver with second-place finishes while Arianna Gross placed third at 132.

Next up for the Lady Bullpup wrestlers will be a trip to Newton on Thursday for a double dual with Newton and El Dorado.
