AUGUSTA – The Smoky Valley wrestlers competed in the 14-team Augusta Invitational on Saturday and finished sixth as a team while Justice Gardner took home gold individually.
With only nine wrestlers, the Vikings still managed to finish in the top half of the team standings with 109 points. Augusta won the team title running away from everyone else with 302 points while Rose Hills and Andover finished second and third with 177 and 172 points, respectively. Douglass and Buhler rounded out the top five just ahead of Smoky Valley.
Justice Gardner remained unbeaten for the season at 11-0 after going 5-0 on Saturday and winning the 126 division with all five wins being by a fall.
Justin Holt, wrestling at 220, placed second after going 4-1.

TEAM – Vikings scored 109 points, placed 6th.
VIKING INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
113 = Takoda Hauck went 0-5, placed 8th.
120 = Connor Barnes went 3-2, placed 5th.
126 = Justice Gardner finished 5-0, placed 1st.
132 = David Sample went 3-2, placed 5th.
145 = Andrew Young went 1-4, placed 8th.
152 = Wyatt Johnson went 2-3, placed 6th.
170 = Richard Zeller went 2-3, placed 5th.
182 = Geo Luis went 1-4, placed 8th.
220 = Justin Holt finished 4-1, placed 2nd.
