MCPHERSON – McPherson County once again has seen a major spike in new Covid-19/Coronavirus cases as the McPherson County Health Department (MCHD) released its latest report on Tuesday afternoon that showed 271 new cases in the county since the previous report on Thursday, January 6.
With the increase of 271 new cases, McPherson County has now totaled 6,120 cases of Covid-19/Coronavirus overall. Tuesday’s report acknowledged 5,541 cases that are now considered fully recovered.
Active cases also rose substantially with the County now showing 479 active cases, an increase of 119 since Thursday.
Individuals aged 18-29 had the highest number of new cases with 66 while those 30-39 in age reported 57 new cases, aged 0-17 had 45, and those 40-49 increased by 42.
Only eight (8) individuals are reported currently hospitalized from the Covid-19/Coronavirus and no new deaths were reported.
Those fully vaccinated within McPherson County now sits at 53.7% or .2% higher than Thursday’s report.
Breakthrough cases rose by 47 to 574.
According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), McPherson County is showing a 28.25% positivity rate as of January 3, 2022.
