LITTLE RIVER – Despite a solid first half lead, the Little River boys struggled in the final sixteen minutes and lost a Saturday home court matchup with Salina Sacred Heart, losing by eight, 50-42.
With the loss the Redskins drop to 5-4 for the season as they begin competition next week in the Burrton Mid-Season Tournament.
Little River took a one-point, 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and built it up to a six-point, 24-18 advantage heading to the halftime break before the wheels came off as Sacred Heart exploded for 16 points in each of the final two quarters while holding the Redskins to just 18, securing the final eight-point loss for the Redskins.
It was nearly a one man show for the Redskins offense as Braxton Lafferty hit four three-pointers to lead the team with 19 points while also topping the stat sheet in rebounds with five, and getting a pair of steals. Dalton Mantz led the teams in assists with four as only five Redskins scored in the game.
