909 NEW CASES IN FIRST TWO WEEKS OF JANUARY

MCPHERSON – Covid-19 and its variants continues to strike McPherson County as the McPherson County Health Department (MCHD) reported 375 new cases on the report released late Tuesday afternoon.
With the report of 375 new cases, McPherson County has now had 6,644 cases overall and for the first couple of weeks of January 2022 – 909 new cases have been reported.
The MCHD also reported that currently there are 717 active cases with another 5,816 considered recovered.
(Editor’s note – these are numbers reported by the MCHD and may not include many who may have taken a home Covid test and tested positive but did not report it.)
There are currently seven McPherson County individuals hospitalized for Covid while on a positive note – no new deaths were reported.
The hardest hit age groups include 88 new cases for those aged 0-17 and 87 new cases ages 18-29 followed by 57 new cases for those ages 40-49.
Fully vaccinated individuals within McPherson County rose just .1% to 53.8% and breakthrough cases reported were 670.
For the week of January 9, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported that McPherson County had a positivity rate of 31.07% which was up from the previous report of 26.54%.

- Female involved cases = 3,442 (+ 201)

- Those cases resulting an individual’s death = 111 (No Change)
