FAIRFIELD – The Little River girls went into the Fairfield Tournament on Tuesday and scored a complete domination over Stafford in their first-round game, winning by 52 points, 66-14.
Next up will be a game on Thursday at Fairfield against the winner of the game between host Fairfield and CCA.
The Lady Redskins jumped all over Stafford from the get-go, holding them to just two first half points while painting the scoreboard with 26 points in the first quarter and another dozen in the second to take a whopping 36-point, 38-2 advantage into the halftime break.
For the game, the Little River girls hit on 65% of their two-point shots and 58% overall from the field while forcing Stafford into bunches of turnovers, including 21 steals.
With 11 Lady Redskins putting points in the scorebook, three reached double digits lead by Lily Boughfman with 14 while both Alaina Eck and Kate Ellwood each scored 10.
MeKenzie Renken led the team in the paint by grabbing five rebounds with Raelynn Welsh pulling down four as ten Lady Redskins had at least one rebound in the game.
It was a total team effort in the overwhelming win as all 11 girls recorded at least one assist and the team had a total of 21 assists on 30 made field goals led by Renken, Welsh, and Ashley Stephenson with three each.
Both Alaina Eck and Amaya Sneath recorded seven steals on defense.
