SEDGWICK – The Moundridge girls took an early lead before needing to hang on and hold off a rally by the Inman girls on Thursday at the Sedgwick Tournament, with the Lady Wildcats prevailing for a six-point, 42-36 victory.

After taking a three-point, 14-11 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats extended their lead to eight over the Lady Teutons at 23-15 by the halftime break.

Coming out of the intermission, Moundridge pushed their advantage to 11 at 32-21 at the end of the third quarter before the Lady Teutons outscored the Lady Wildcats 15-10 in the final eight minutes to pull back within the final six-point margin of victory.

“We talked about how the game on Tuesday had to be a turning point for our season,” noted Lady Wildcat head coach Kaleigh Huxman. “From this point on we want to get better every game. I was very pleased with our defensive intensity tonight. We made free throws and grabbed rebounds needed when we had to finish the game. We are eager to get back on the floor again on Friday night.”

For the Lady Wildcats, they were led by Kate Eichelberger with 12 points while Emily Durst also reached double digits with 11, including three three-pointers.

Hannah Martisko and Kadence Welch topped the Lady Teutons with eight points each.
