CANTON = To give on an idea of how lopsided the game was Tuesday in Canton, the Canton/Galva boys had all 12 players that dressed for the game score at least two points as the Eagles buried Herington by 38-points, 62-24.
The Eagles burst out to a 15-point, 19-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and then extended the lead to 33 points at 40-7 by the halftime break. Despite Herington out scoring the Eagles by three in the third, the boys managed to close out the came on a 12-4 run in the fourth to finish the lopsided 38-point victory.
“We were very active early in our press and transition game,” noted Eagle head coach Larry O’Connor in his post-game reflections. “We were able to play a lot of kids and use a lot of different lineups tonight. The team played very balanced despite losing Tyson (Struber) early in the game with an ankle injury. Our guys will have to be next man up going forward.”
Now 6-4 for the season, the Eagles go on the road Friday to battle with Little River.
Christian Darrah led the Eagles in scoring with 11 points while Brayden Doughman and TJ Koehn each chipped in with eight and Garrett Maltbie had seven.
