MOUNDRIDGE – In a cross-county battle, the Moundridge girls hosted Inman on Friday and needed a fourth quarter rally to earn a hard fought, 41-35 win.
With the win, the Lady Wildcats up their season mark to 10-5 as they prep to host Hutchinson Trinity on Tuesday before traveling to Remington next Friday.
The loss drops the Lady Teutons to just 5-11 on the season as they now have a week off to rest and prep before hosting Marion at home next Friday.
Moundridge took a thin two-point, 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a razor thin one-point, 19-18 advantage at the halftime break before Inman bounced back and took a one-point, 29-28 lead by the end of the third quarter. The Lady Wildcats then outscored the visitors 13-6 in the final eight minutes of play to earn the final six-point victory.
“Inman has improved tremendously this season,” said Lady Wildcat head coach Kaleigh Huxman in her short post-game reflections. “In my first season I am finding out that you truly never know what will happen in an Inman vs. Moundridge game. They made us work for everything tonight. I am proud of my girls for finding a way to win. In the fourth quarter we crashed the boards better and finally began to put the ball in the hole.”
Kate Eichelberger was the big offense for the Lady Wildcats as she put 17 points in the scorebook while Kindall Elmore chipped in with eight and Reese Schmidt scored seven.
For the Lady Teutons, they had two score in double digits as Kadence Welch put 13 points on the board and Maci Neufeld had 12.
