CANTON – In a makeup game on Tuesday, the Canton/Galva boys dominated visiting Peabody/Burns and scored a 21-point, 55-34 win.
Storming out to a seven-point, 12-5 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Eagles extended their advantage to 12 at 28-16 by the halftime break. After the intermission, Peabody/Burns whittle some points off the Eagle lead and only trailed by nine before Canton/Galva poured 20 points on the scoreboard in the final eight minutes while holding to visitors to just eight, giving them the final 21-point victory.
“We came out with great energy and hit some shots early,” noted Eagle head coach Larry O’Connor. “We still need to get better from the free throw line after going 16-of-35 tonight. Need to continue to get better at the little fundamentals that cost many teams games.”
Jayden Ediger used three three-pointers to led the Eagles in scoring with 13 while Xavier Westbrook hit a pair of three-pointers to also reach double digits with 10. Nine Eagles put points by their name in the scorebook.
With the win, the Eagles are now above .500 for the season at 7-6 as they prep for a big game Friday on the road at White City to tangle with Rural Vista.
