MOUNDRIDGE – The Moundridge girls used strong defense to shutdown Hutchinson Trinity at home on Tuesday and record a 23-point, 43-20 victory.

Leading by five, 9-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats upped the advantage to 13, 20-7 by the halftime break. After leading by 16 after three quarters, the Moundridge girls put another seven points on the Trinity deficit to score the final 23-point win.

“I was really pleased with out defense tonight,” pointed out Lady Wildcat head coach Kaleigh Huxman in her brief post-game reflections. “I challenged the girls to pick up their rebounding effort and they rose to the challenge. I was also pleased with our offensive execution. We are starting to get more midrange shots, which is something we did not have early in the season.”

Now 11-5 for the season, the Lady Wildcats will go on the road Friday to tangle with Remington.

Kate Eichelberger led the Lady Wildcats offense with 16 points while Emily Durst joined her in double digits with 10.
