INMAN – The Inman boys and girls were looking for a much-needed good night of basketball and Friday evening played out to be just that as they played host to Marion and the Teuton boys buried the visitors by 70, 85-15, while the Lady Teutons used a huge opening quarter to propel them to a five-point victory at 50-45.

For the Teuton boys, they ran out to a 24-point, 29-5 lead by the end of the first quarter before building the advantage out to 37 at 48-11 at the halftime break. Inman then cruised through the second half, outscoring Marion 37-4 and gaining the final 70-point, 85-15 victory.

Marion did not score a single point in the final eight minutes of the game.

Eli Brunk led the Teutons in scoring with 21 points while Zach Martisko dropped in 18 and Tanner Heckel chipped in with 14 as 10 Teutons put points by their name in the scorebook.

With the victory, the Inman boys are now 12-4 for the season and will be at home Tuesday for a tangle with Remington before heading to Little River on Friday for a battle with the Redskins.

Gaining a win was big for the Lady Teutons as they have struggled this season, but against Marion they blasted out to a 13-point, 21-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and still held an eight-point, 30-22 advantage at the halftime break as Marion worked at chipping away at their deficit.

In the third quarter, Marion knocked a couple of more points off the Lady Teuton lead and pulled within six at 44-38 by the time the two teams entered the final eight minutes of play where the Inman girls hung on for the final five-point, 50-45 win.

Leading the offense for the Lady Teutons was Maci Neufeld who scored 18 while Hannah Martisko reached double digits as well with 13 and Kadence Welch just missed double figures with nine.

The victory was just the sixth on the season for the Lady Teutons as they are now 6-11 with a game coming up on Tuesday at home with Remington before going on the road next Friday to battle with Little River who is currently ranked #3 in Class 1A Division I.
