LITTLE RIVER – In a battle of two top teams from the McPherson County area, Little River did not play kind hosting Elyria Christian on Friday in scoring a 25-point, 49-24 victory on the Redskins home court.

Little River began the game by taking a six-point, 14-8, lead over the Eagles by the end of the first eight minutes of play and then upped the lead to nine, 25-16, going into the halftime break. After the Redskins held the Eagles to just eight points in the final two quarters while scoring 24, they settled in for the final 25-point win.

Now 12-5 for the season the Redskins will begin a three-game week on Tuesday when they travel to Spearville before going on the road again Thursday to Goessel and then finishing out the regular season schedule by hosting Inman on Friday.

For the Elyria boys, they are now 13-3 after the loss and will be on the road Monday at Central Christian before hosting Marion on Friday.

Rylan Konen just missed double digits for Little River with nine points, while Dalton Mantz had six rebounds.

For Elyria, only four Eagles scored in the game with Keyan Wiggers leading the way with 10 and Ty Romero getting eight.

“I thought we came out flat tonight against a ready-to-go Little River team,” explained Elyria head coach Zach Goodrich in his post-game reflections. “It was a great atmosphere and we missed out on a great opportunity to learn how to win a tough road game.”
