MCPHERSON – The McPherson County Health Department (MCHD) released a new Covid Report for the County on Thursday and it shows the smallest increase of new cases in a while with just 72 new Covid cases since a week earlier on February 10.
With the 72 new cases the overall total number of Covid cases in McPherson County now stands at 7,844.
Current hospitalizations rose by two to six individuals while three more individuals passed away due to Covid or complications caused by the virus. This brings the total that have needed hospitalization to 313 and the number of deaths to 123.
Those who died came from the age groups of 90-older, 80-89, and 50-59.
The breakdown of the top four Covid variants (out of seven) causing positive tests are B16172-Delta with 27.5%, Omicron with 23.5%, AY2 – Delta with 16.7%, and AY3 – Delta with 15.7%.
Currently active Covid cases now stands at just 88 while 7,633 are considered recovered.
Those County individuals listed as fully vaccinated with a booster shot increased slightly to 45.9% while those over the age of 18 who are fully vaccinated with a booster shot is 48.6%.
According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the County’s positivity rate as of February 6 was 15.58%.
Breakthrough cases were 926 total to date.
