GOESSEL – In a pair of makeup games on Monday the Little River boys and girls traveled to Goessel and returned with a five-point, 53-48 win for the boys and a 36-point, 52-20 victory for the girls.

With the win the Redskins close out their regular season with a final record of 14-6 and undefeated in league play. They now prep for their opening game of sub-state on Thursday when they play Fairfield.

The Lady Redskins also finished unbeaten in league play while going 19-1 overall.

REDSKIN BOYS HOLD OFF GOESSEL

The Little River boys jumped out to a 13-point, 15-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and extended it out to a commanding 15-point, 31-16 advantage at the halftime break. After the intermission Goessel came out on a mission and chiseled the Redskin lead down to just eight, 39-31 by the finish of the third quarter before Little River was able to hold on for the final five-point, 53-48 victory.

Braxton Lafferty led the Redskins in scoring with 18 points while both Allen Burrola and Logan Renken each chipped in with 12. Renken scored all his points from beyond the three-point line as he connected on four three-pointers.

Burrola topped the team on the boards with seven rebounds with Lafferty grabbing six while Dalton Mantz did much of directing the offense by dishing out five assists.

LADY REDSKINS DOMINATE GOESSEL

For the Lady Redskins, they took control from the beginning and dominated the game by taking a 21-point, 23-2 lead by the end of the first eight minutes of play before extended their advantage to 32 points at 38-6 by the halftime intermission. Goessel came out playing better in the second half, but Little River cruised in for the final 36-point, 56-20 win.

Lily Boughfman led the Lady Redskins with 17 points while Alaina Eck scored 11 as nine players put points in the scorebook. Elsie Boughfman and Ashley Stephenson helped the offense by handing out four and three assists, respectively. Lily Boughfman grabbed five rebounds while Aubrey Olander, Raelynn Welsh, and Elsie Boughfman each pulled down four and Alaina Eck swiped five steals.
