INMAN – The end of the regular season came for the Inman boys and girls on Monday and Tuesday with the boys getting wins over Solomon on Monday (60-44), and Herington on Tuesday (68-9) while the Inman girls lost a heartbreaker to Herington on Tuesday, 50-48.

The two wins gives the Teuton boys a final regular season mark of 16-4 as they now prep to battle Berean Academy at home on Tuesday in the first round of sub-state action.

For the Lady Teutons, the loss drops them to 6-14 as they prep to open to host Remington on Monday in their sub-state play.

Summary of the games played:

TEUTONS SLIP PAST SOLOMON

Inman jumped out to a six-point, 15-9 lead by the end of the first quarter before Solomon played them even in the second, leaving the Teutons still holding a six point, 27-21 advantage at the halftime break.

The Teutons came out hot in the second half and put 19 points on the board in the third quarter to take a more commanding 18-point, 46-28 lead before Solomon chipped a few points off the lead, giving Inman their final 16-point, 60-44 victory.

“Game was kind of what I thought it would be,” noted Teuton head coach Brett Froese. “:They have a couple of guards that really put pressure on you as they both can handle the ball and shoot it. Thought we did a pretty good job for the most part with them.”

Tanner Heckel had an all-star kind of game as he led all scorers with 31 points while Kendyn Blank and Zach Martisko came close to double digits with nine and eight points each.

Coach Froese closed out his reflections on the game by adding, “We really got going in the second half offensively as Tanner (Heckel) carried us early and then the guys kind of all chipped in to help. Our guys rally cut and moved well in the second half.”
