MCPHERSON – So many have been waiting for some solidly good numbers and this week we may just have them as the Thursday Covid report put out by the McPherson County Health Department (MCHD) shoed just 39 new cases of Covid since the report a week earlier on February 17.

With the 39 new cases the total number of Covid cases in McPherson County now stands at 7,883.

Current hospitalizations stayed the same as a week ago with just six individuals currently in hospitals with Covid.

Other good news – no new deaths, so the total that have died still stands at 123.

The number of current active Covid cases has also dropped to just 50 while 7,710 are considered recovered.

Those County individuals listed as full vaccinated with a booster shot increased by .3% to 46.2% and the County’s positivity rate as of February 13 is at 9.61% according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), a good drop for 15.58% a week earlier.

Another big number showing the pandemic is slowing down came in the Wednesday reports from the KDHE when it showed just one (1) cluster unit in McPherson County. The cluster unit still in the KDHE listing is from Brookdale Senior Living Long-Term Care Facility in McPherson with eight (8) active cases as of February 15.

UPDATED CASE DATA (# change since last report on Thursday, February 17):

  • New cases since our last report = 39
  • Current active cases = 50 (- 38)   
  • Female involved cases = 4,136 (+ 17)
  • Male involved cases = 3,747 (+ 22)
  • Those cases requiring Hospitalization (May not represent current hospitalizations) = 316 (+ 3)
  • Those cases resulting an individual’s death = 123 (No Change)
  • COVID-19/Coronavirus Patients who have died by age = 90+ (27); 80-89 (40); 70-79 (24); 60-69 (21); 50-59 (6); 40-49 (2); 30-39 (2); 20-29 (1); 10-19 (0); 0-9 (0).
