LYONS – The Smoky Valley softball team raised their season record to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in Central Kansas League play on Friday when they went on the road and hammered Lyons in sweeping a doubleheader 16-2, and 17-1.
Now off for nearly a week, the Lady Vikings do not return to the diamond until Thursday, April 14 when they play host to Halstead.
In game one at Lyons, the Lady Vikings scored eight runs in the first inning, added one in the second and poured across six more in the fourth before getting one more in the fifth to score the dominating 16-2 victory. Smoky Valley recorded 13 hits in the game and took advantage of four Lyons defensive errors.
Karee Adam pitched for Smoky Valley and gave up but four hits while Madi Tolle led the offense with three hits and three runs batted in. Rylie Tolle and Kayla Norberg each had a pair of hits while Karee Adam helped her pitching victory by getting four runs batted in.
The nightcap was much as the same as the Lady Vikings scattered 12 hits to score five runs in the first inning and another 10 in the second before adding another pair in the fourth on their way to the 17-1 win.
Maggie Ryals is now 2-1 on the season as she pitched for Smoky Valley.
Karee Adam led the offense by going three-for-three at the plate and scoring three runs and knocking in three as well. Madi Tolle, Maliyah Koster, and Ava Broxterman each had a pair of hits with Catherine O’Dell scoring three times and stealing three bases. Allison Hipp’s lone hit was for a two-run double, and Tolle hit a two-run triple.
