LITTLE RIVER – The Little River softball team continued their skid early in the season as they were blistered twice by Minneapolis on Tuesday, losing game one 20-1 before dropping game two 20-5.

The two losses drop the Lady Redskins to 1-6 for the season as they now get a week off before hitting the road to Moundridge for a pair of games on Tuesday, April 19.

Minneapolis put eight runs on the scoreboard in the first inning of game one before adding four more in the second and another eight in the third, handing the Lady Redskins the 20-1 defeat.

Jailyn Miller and Katie Collins worked the mound for Little River and could not stop the offensive explosion by Minneapolis as they combined to give up 19 earned runs on just 103 pitches while walking eight and striking out just one.

The only three hits in the game for the lady Redskins came Victoria Norez, Courtney Stansbury, and Katie Collins as the Minneapolis pitching only gave up one walk.

In the second game, the Lady Redskins only trailed 2-1 at the end of the first before Minneapolis poured nine runs across the plate in the top of the second. Little River put four more runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second before Minneapolis put the game away with nine runs in over the fourth and fifth innings to gain their second decisive win, 20-5.

Jailyn Miller never got out of the first inning pitching for the Lady Redskins before Courtney Stansbury came on to finish the game. The pair threw 116 pitches while walking four and striking out three.

Victoria Norez had a huge game at the plate for Little River as she had a pair of hits with both being doubles which helped her get credit for three of the five runs batted in.
