BURRTON – It was a momentous day for Inman track/field on Tuesday as both the Teuton boys and the Lady Teutons scored big team victories at the six-team Burrton Invitational.

The Lady Teutons rolled up 132 points to out distance second-place Sterling by 20 points while Hutchinson Central Christian finished a distant third with 93.

The Teuton boys ran away with the team title as they scored 199 points, a full 101 points ahead of runner-up Sterling who had 98 and third-place Hutchinson Central Christian who had 95.

For the Teuton boys, they took first in 10 events including double individual wins from Harrison Brunk in the 100 and 200 meters, and Tanner Heckel in the long jump and triple jump. Also earning first-place finishes were Dawson Mannebach in the 400 meters, Eli Brunk in the 110-meter hurdles, and Jace Doerksen in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Teutons also won all three of the relays, the 4×100, the 4×400, and the 4×800. The 4×100 relay quartet of Kendyn Blank, Harrison Brunk, Tanner Heckel, and Dawson Mannebach broke a school record and currently lays claim to the top time in the state as well according to head coach Lance Sawyer.

Between Doerksen, Eli Brunk and Kellen Schrag, Inman took the top three places in both the hurdle events while also finishing one-two-three in the 400 meters with Mannebach, Kendyn Blank, and Talon Welch.

Madilyn Heflin led the Lady Teutons as she won both the 100 meters and the 100-meter hurdles. Lauren Aden scored a first place in the 3,200 meters while the Inman girls took first in both the 4×400 meter, and 4×800 meter relays as well.

The Inman track/field teams will be back on the competitive track on Tuesday, April 19 when they travel to Marion.
