INMAN – In a doubleheader that put up some gaudy numbers, the Moundridge baseball team went on the road to county rival Inman and scored a doubleheader sweep on Thursday, with the Wildcats out dueling the Teutons 16-13 and 10-8.

Between the Wildcats and Teutons they scored 47 runs, nicked pitchers for 45 hits that included 12 doubles, and a pair of triples while baserunners stole 40 bases and the two team’s pitching staffs struck out 40 batters.

Moundridge is now 3-7 for the season as they prep to play host to Little River on Tuesday.

The two losses drop Inman to just 2-8. The Teutons will play host to Remington on Tuesday.

In the first game, the Wildcats jumped out to an 8-2 advantage by the end of the second inning and still led 15-12 after six before each team added a run to their scoreboard totals to close out the final 16-13 win.

Jerid Montague and Logan Churchill pitched for Moundridge, combining to give up 12 hits, and 11 earned runs while walking seven and striking out five.

At the plate, Joe Schrag and Joaquin Huff led the Wildcats with three hits each while Huff also recorded four runs batted in. Logan Churchill, Ethan Brandeweide and Schrag all hit doubles with Churchill, Ty Rains, and Lane Durst each stole three bases.

Shober led the Teuton bats by getting four hits, including a double and scoring four times. Grant Weins had just two hits, but they went for a double and a triple.

Inman jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before Moundridge put four runs on the board in the second. The Teutons then pushed across four runs over the next three innings and held a 7-4 advantage heading into the top of the seventh when the Wildcats poured across six runs and then held on for the final 10-8 victory.

Anthony Everhart started the game for the Wildcats and went 6.1 innings, giving up nine hits and seven runs while walking just one and striking out 11 before Logan Churchill entered the game and finished it out and earning the save.

Everhart helped his pitching by leading the team with three hits, all being doubles. Joe Schrag had a pair of hits which were good enough to knock in four runs.

For the Teutons, Brant Mikulecky and Samuel Shober shared time on the mound with Mikulecky working the first six innings and giving up eight hits, five runs, walking four and striking out 11.
