MOUNDRIDGE – While the Little River baseball team got the best of Moundridge, the Moundridge softball team reciprocated by blowing away the visiting Little River girls in a two-game sweep, winning 19-0 and 16-1.

With the two wins the Lady Wildcats are now 8-2 heading into a doubleheader at home on Friday with Bennington.

In the first game the Lady Wildcats poured 13 runs across home plate in the first inning and then added another six in the second to make it a quick three inning, 19-0 victory.

Courtney Stansbury was on the mound for Little River while Adison Skinner was the lone Lady Redskin to get a base hit.

Emily Durst three a 38 pitch one hit shutout while striking out seven for the Lady Wildcats.

Offensively, Moundridge was led by Addy Falco, Kindall Elmore, and Lizzy Kliewer, all of whom had a pair of hits each. Kliewer hit for a double while Falco hammered out a home run as she recorded four runs batted in. Elmore hit for a double. The Lady Wildcats also stole seven bases in the game.

It was much the same in the nightcap as the Lady Wildcats scored twice in the first before putting 12 runs on the scoreboard in the second inning and then adding two more in the fourth for the final 16-1 win.

Jailyn Millar pitched for Little River and three 116 pitches in just three innings, giving up nine hits but only four earned runs as the Lady Redskin defense committed 10 errors in the game.

On the mound for the Lady Wildcats was Emma Blough and she threw an 84-pitch no-hitter while walking six and striking out six.

Emily Durst had a pair of hits for the Lady Wildcats and knocked in four runs thanks to pounding out a home run. Aubree Durst and Kate Eichelberger also had a pair of hits for Moundridge with the girls also stealing another 10 bases in the second game. Despite the major blowout on the scoreboard, the Lady Wildcats still left 11 runners on base.
