STERLING – On Thursday, the Inman track/field teams went on the road to the 12-team Sterling Relays where the Teuton boys dominated their meet while the Lady Teutons finished second, just 2.25 points out of first place.

Taking first place in 11 events, the Teuton boys rolled up 174 points to earn the team championship well ahead of second place Ellinwood with 73 and third place Little River with 66.

Three Teutons earned double individual golds with Harrison Brunk winning both the 100 and 200 meters, Eli Brunk taking first in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, and Tanner Heckel scoring gold in the long jump and triple jump. Other gaining individual gold were Kellen Schrag in the 800 meters, Dawson Mannebach in the 400 meters and Grant Thimmesch in the javelin.

Harrison Brunk, Mannebach, and Heckel also teamed up with Kendyn Blank to run legs on both gold medal 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays with the quartet breaking the school record in the 4×100 meter relay while setting the top time in Class 2A at 43.80.

The Teutons also scored a one-two-three finish in the 110-meter hurdles with Eli Brunk, Jace Doerksen, and Kellen Schrag.

In the girls meet, the Lady Teutons scored 86.50 team points to finish second to nearby rival Little River who finished first with 88.75 points, a 2.25 sliver of a difference.

Both Lauren Aden and Madilyn Heflin won a pair of individual golds with Aden winning the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs while Heflin scored wins in the both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. The fifth gold for the Lady Teutons came from the 4×800 meter relay quartet of Brooke Aden, Lauren Aden, Katie Nichols, and Dakota Nees.

Next up for the Teuton track/field teams will be a trip to Goessel on Tuesday.
